The Quartet

The Aventurin Quartet was founded in 2022 in the context of the Hochschule der Künste Bern. As a young quartet, they have set themselves the goal of achieving the highest level of musical expression and creativity. In collaboration with renowned chamber music teachers such as Patrick Jüdt, Corina Belcea, Rainer Schmidt, Axel Schacher, Conradin Brotbek, David Eggert, Monika Urbaniak and Minna Pensola, they continue to refine their artistic skills and possibilities of expression.

Not long after their formation, the string quartet was invited to perform in numerous concerts in Switzerland and abroad. In the summer of 2023, the Aventurin Quartet was Artist in Residence at the GUIMARÃES CLÁSSICO Festival in Portugal. At the same time, the Aventurin Quartet was accepted into the Italian music network Le Dimore del Quartetto. In November 2023, the quartet was invited to take part in the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).

Close collaboration with various contemporary composers is particularly important to the Aventurin Quartet. In June 2023, at the 50th anniversary of ESTA Switzerland, the quartet performed world premieres by two young Swiss composers in an expanded formation as a string quintet. Among some of their upcoming projects is one with composers Thomas Demenga and Arda Yurdusev.

The gemstone aventurine derives its name from Italian and means "for good luck." This mineral has been associated with optimism and courage from the time of Ancient Greece. The name aventurine therefore embodies the quartet's intention to present its audience with the most precious musical jewels from the past whilst also exploring new and adventurous paths in contemporary music.
